A graduate of geography at the University of Gdańsk (1993). She has been employed at UWM since 1995. She completed a one-year research internship (1996–1997) at the Institute of Water Management at the Wageningen Agricultural University (WAU) in the Netherlands and numerous short-term research trips. She conducts extensive scientific activity, cooperates with scientific units in the country and abroad in the field of water management in protected areas, mainly through the implementation of projects related to water management, protection and restoration of water ecosystems. Manager of 3 projects financed by national funds (MNISW, NCN) and tasks in projects implemented under EU funds (FP7, Horizon 2000). Contractor in 12 research projects.

Positions / functions: Head of the Department of Water Management, Climatology and Environmental Management, President of the Senate Committee for International Cooperation (term 2012–2016, 2016–2020), member of the Senate (term 2012–2016, 2016–2020), member of the Convention of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, member of the Interdisciplinary Team for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (2016-2021), vice-president of the Committee on Natural Resources of the Polish Academy of Sciences (2016-2018) and the Committee on Water Management of the Polish Academy of Sciences (from 2019), secretary of the Scientific Society for Water Engineering and Management ( from 2019), member of the Council of the Department of Environmental Management and Agriculture. Member of the Committee for Environmental Impact Assessment and member of the Regional Council for Nature Conservation at RDOŚ in Olsztyn. Reviewer of applications for research projects / co-financed by the European Commission and other international programs. In 2005–2012, editor-in-chief of the Journal of Elementology, until 2018 editor of the Environmental Protection section. Deputy editor-in-chief of the Polish Annals of Medicine (since 2015).

Professor dr hab. Katarzyna Glińska-Lewczuk cooperates with the Polish-French association from the L'Indre region in France, which promotes science and culture, intensifying the exchange of students and researchers. Since 2013, she has been a member of the jury of the Geographical Olympics (since 2017 the president of the Warmia and Mazury district of the OG). Co-organizer of the XXX National Ecological Knowledge Olympiad, member of the jury of the OWE finals. She is passionate about traveling and nature photography.
