  • Identification of natural and anthropogenic factors affecting water relations in small agricultural and forested catchments

  • Climatology of northeastern Poland

Research achievements:

 

Department staff actively participate in international and national research projects. They have obtained funding for 24 research grants from non-academic sources, including 3 financed by the European Commission, under the 6th, 7th, and Horizon 2000 frameworks.

 

Scientific cooperation:

 

  • As part of international projects, the Department collaborates with institutions such as Deltares in the Netherlands, Aas University in Norway, the Swedish Environmental Research Institute, the Environmental Engineering and Management Department of the Polytechnic University of Iasi in Romania, the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore, and others.
  • As part of the Polish-French exchange program POLONIUM, implemented in 2017-2018, employees of the Department of Water Management, Climatology, and Environmental Shaping collaborate with the University of Orleans (Geography Institute).
  • Department employees collaborate with the Polish-French association from the L'Indre region of France.
  • Numerous publications and research initiatives of Department employees have been created in cooperation with scientists from other scientific research institutions, such as the Institute of Nature of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Krakow, Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw, Warsaw University of Life Sciences, Poznan University of Life Sciences, Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences, University of Natural Sciences in Lublin, Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz, Pomeranian Academy in Słupsk, and the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, as well as with entrepreneurs.
  • Department employees carry out numerous scientific analyses and expertise supporting state institutions. This activity consists of long-term cooperation, among others, with national and landscape parks, including: Mazurski Landscape Park, Wzgórze Dylewskie Landscape Park, Biebrzański National Park, Słowiński National Park, Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Olsztyn, Regional Directorate of State Forests, and Regional Water Management Board, Land Improvement and Water Equipment in Olsztyn (Branches in Ostróda, Bartoszyce, Mrągowo, Szczytno, and others) in the field of water management in protected areas, mainly in the implementation of projects in the field of water management and restoration of aquatic ecosystems.
