The main directions of scientific - research activity at the Institute of Building Engineering

 

Department of Building Engineering and Building Physics

  • Buildings protection against moisture;
  • Thermal insulation and air tightness of buildings;
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of energy-efficient installation solutions in the field of renewable energy sources;
  • Revitalization of urban and architectural complexes;
  • Design and spatial planning – study of conditions and cultural values;
  • Development of green areas in inner-city urban spatial structures;
  • Creating databases of various construction projects based on 3D laser scanner measurements;
  • Renovation of historic buildings;
  • Diagnostics of technical condition of the building structures.

 

Department of Geotechnics and Road Construction

  • The use of IT applications developed using Matlab scripts;
  • The techniques of artificial intelligence and optimization in geotechnics;
  • Traffic engineering;
  • Issues of transport safety systems integration;
  • Polyvalent analysis using adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system ANFIS running in Matlab Fuzzy Logic Toolbox environment;
  • The use of numerical techniques, especially artificial neural networks to develop and interpret the results of geotechnical investigations;
  • Geotechnical studies - fieldwork CPTU / CPTS, SD, VSS;
  • Laboratory tests of triaxial compression and direct shear;
  • Automating the interpretation of test results - using classification systems to interpret field and laboratory measurements of the mechanical properties of the land;
  • Identification of material parameters - calibration of numerical models of ground materials based on the results of field and laboratory determinations;
  • Research of links of lithological physical and mechanical characteristics of compressible soil;
  • Comparative studies of soil particle size by sedimentation - areometric (standardized) and an optical method (Analysette-22);
  • Research and analysis of changes in permeability coefficient in the consolidation process in stages;
