prof. UWM Marcin Wawruk

Marcin Wawruk is a Polish choirmaster and music arranger. He leads vocal workshops and takes part in being a member of juries in choral competitions. He worked as a vocal coach in Polish editions of the television shows ("Star Academy", „X-Factor", "Got Talent"). He is also a leader of "ProForma" vocal ensemble, which now is a core of his artistic activity.

As a musician, he split his activities to both sides of music world: being a Professor of Music at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn (Poland), he works hard on ancient and contemporary masterpieces, but afterhours he continues his long-time relationship with less distinguished music forms (of pop, rock, dance genres).

Within 25 years of artistic work, Marcin Wawruk did 600 performances (including those in the most prestigious concert halls at National Philharmonic, Concert Studios of Polish Radio or Royal Castle in Warsaw) and got numerous prizes at choir competitions, both domestic and international.

Marcin Wawruk participated in many recordings as a producer, author, arranger, conductor and performer. He has written well over one hundred a cappella arrangements, several dozen of songs published on CDs and is a co-author of a popular set of children songs for violin and piano "Fiddling notes". He also created a great deal of TV and radio jingles, commercials and music for TV series.

He co-operated with many famous artists of the Polish music scene, but one of the most significant moments in his music carrier is associated with the legendary vocalist Bobby McFerrin, who invited „ProForma" ensemble to perform with him the repertoire from his latest „VOCAbuLarieS" CD at the special concert in Poland (2010).

Marcin Wawruk was awarded several prizes from national and local authorities, including "Deserved for the Polish Culture" - a prestigious prize given to the most talented and efficient Polish artists.
