Where We Are

Poland is one of the biggest countries in Europe. It is situated in Central Europe and serves as the geographical and cultural crossroads of Eastern and Western Europe.

The neighboring countries are Germany to the west, the Czech Republic and Slovakia to the south, Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania to the east, the Kaliningrad enclave of Russia and the Baltic Sea to the north.

Poland has a very varied landscape; from sandy beaches in the north to the Tatra Mountains in the south. It is a great country to unwind yet those who like something more active will be spoilt for choice; whether it is hiking and climbing in the summer or skiing and snowboarding in the winter. The Varmia and Masuria region, where our University is situated, is the Polish lakeland. Thousands of lakes, rivers, canals and wetlands are strewn throughout this area. Nature lovers will be richly rewarded as there are endless possibilities in this charming region. It is easy to drift along or even explore the large expanse of pristine forests on offer.

The Masurian Lake District is a world finalist in the New 7 Wonders of Nature contest and the whole region is a magnet for tourists from all over the world.
