Publication procedures

 

General remarks

Polish authors submit articles in Polish and in English. In order to ensure high quality of linguistic editing of the journal, the article should be verified by native English speaker(s). The costs of translating/verifying the article are borne by the Authors.

Foreign authors submit articles in English. Additionally, the title, key words and abstract of the article should be submitted in Polish.

Articles should be submitted to the editorial board either via e-mail oej@uwm.edu.pl or snail mail, to the following address:

Articles are subject to formal evaluation, initial evaluation by the editor-in-chief and associate editors, and then to evaluation by external reviewers and the statistical editor.

The formal evaluation is made by the editorial secretary and refers, among other things, to: the length of the article, the inclusion of the title, abstract and key words (in Polish and English) and correctly formatted bibliography. Articles which do not meet the guidelines are sent back to Authors for revision. Articles which meet the guidelines are subject to evaluation by the editor-in-chief and subject editors, who assess its scientific character and relevance to the thematic scope of the journal. After a positive internal evaluation articles are submitted to the evaluation by external reviewers, who are appointed by the editor-in-chief.

The reviewing procedure:

  1. At least two independent reviewers from research institutions other than the one with which the Author is affiliated are appointed to evaluate each article.
  2. At least one of the reviewers is affiliated in an foreign institution other than the Author’s nationality.
  3. The Author or Authors do not know the identities of the reviewers and vice versa (double-blind review process). As regards the relations between the author and the reviewer, there is no:
    1. direct personal relationship (kinship, legal ties, conflict),
    2. professional supervisor-subordinate relation,
    3. direct scientific collaboration in the course of the last two years preceding the preparation of the review.
  4. The editorial board follows procedures preventing ghostwriting and guest authorship. Detailed description of the procedures can be found in the tab Protection policy.
  5. The reviewer is obliged to abide by the copyrights. In the case of detecting copyright infringement by the Author, the reviewer is obliged to report it to the editorial board of the journal.
  6. The reviewer is required to keep confidential all details of the article as well as the peer review process.
  7. The review is submitted in the written form and ends with a clear statement as to whether the article is accepted for publication or rejected.
  8. Only articles which have two positive reviews are submitted for printing. If one of the reviews is negative, the article is submitted for evaluation to a third reviewer.
  9. The review form is available in the tab on the right.
  10. Names of the reviewers for individual issues of the journal are available in the current issue and in the tab on the right.

After receiving two positive reviews and taking into considerations the reviewers’ corrections and recommendations the Author revises the article and submits to the editorial board the following:

  1. The final version of the article in English, together with the title, key words and abstract in Polish and English (saved on CD or sent via e-mail to oej@uwm.edu.pl),
  2. responses to reviews,
  3. the Author’s statement (the relevant form can be found in the tab on the right),
  4. information about the name and last name of the translator and the native speaker.

The final version of the article submitted by the author will be verified by the statistical editor.

Zasady publikacji

 

Uwagi ogólne

Polscy autorzy dostarczają tekst artykułu w języku polskim oraz angielskim. W trosce o dbałość wydawniczą i jakość językową czasopisma, wersja anglojęzyczna artykułu powinna być zweryfikowana przez native speakera. Koszt tłumaczenia/weryfikacji artykułu ponosi Autor.

Autorzy zagraniczni przekazują cały artykuł w języku angielskim wraz z tytułem, słowami kluczowymi i abstraktem w języku polskim.

Artykuł może być przekazany do Redakcji na adres mailowy oej@uwm.edu.pl, lub tradycyjną droga pocztową na adres:

Artykuły podlegają ocenie formalnej, ocenie redaktora głównego i redaktorów tematycznych, ocenie recenzentów zewnętrznych oraz ocenie redaktora statystycznego.

Ocena formalna dokonywana jest przez sekretarza redakcji i dotyczy m. in.: długości artykułu, obecności tytułu, abstraktu oraz słów kluczowych (w języku polskim i angielskim) oraz odpowiedniego zapisu bibliograficznego. Artykuł nie spełniający wymogów formalnych odsyłany jest do Autora z prośbą o dostosowanie do wymogów Redakcji. Artykuł spełniający te wymogi podlega ocenie redaktora naczelnego i redaktorów tematycznych, którzy oceniają jego naukowy charakter oraz zgodność z profilem tematycznym czasopisma. Po pozytywnej recenzji wewnętrznej artykuł przekazywany jest do merytorycznej oceny recenzentom zewnętrznym, których wyznacza redaktor naczelny.

Przebieg procedury recenzowania:

  1. Do oceny każdej publikacji powołuje się co najmniej dwóch niezależnych recenzentów spoza jednostki naukowej afiliowanej przez Autora publikacji.
  2. Co najmniej jeden z recenzentów jest afiliowany w instytucji zagranicznej innej niż narodowość Autora pracy.
  3. Autor lub autorzy publikacji i recenzenci nie znają swoich tożsamości (double-blind review process). Między autorem a recenzentem nie zachodzą:
    1. bezpośrednie relacje osobiste (pokrewieństwo, związki prawne, konflikt),
    2. relacje podległości zawodowej,
    3. bezpośrednia współpraca naukowa w ciągu ostatnich dwóch lat poprzedzających przygotowanie recenzji.
  4. Redakcja stosuje procedurę zabezpieczającą przed zjawiskami ghostwriting oraz guest authorship. Szczegółowy opis procedury znajduje się w zakładce Procedura zabezpieczająca.
  5. Recenzent zobowiązany jest do poszanowania praw autorskich. W przypadku zauważonego naruszenia praw autorskich przez Autora artykułu, recenzent zobowiązany jest do zgłoszenia tego faktu redakcji czasopisma.
  6. Recenzent jest zobowiązany do zachowania poufnego charakteru recenzji naukowej i nieujawniania żadnych szczegółów dotyczących pracy, jak i recenzji.
  7. Recenzja ma formę pisemną i kończy się jednoznacznym wnioskiem co do dopuszczenia artykułu do publikacji lub jego odrzucenia.
  8. Do druku kierowane są artykuły posiadające dwie pozytywne recenzje. W przypadku gdy jedna z dwóch recenzji będzie negatywna, artykuł przekazywany jest do oceny trzeciemu recenzentowi.
  9. Formularz recenzji artykułu znajduje się w zakładce po prawej stronie.
  10. Nazwiska recenzentów poszczególnych numerów są dostępne w aktualnym numerze czasopisma oraz znajdują się w zakładce po prawej stronie.

Po otrzymaniu dwóch pozytywnych recenzji i uwzględnieniu uwag i zaleceń recenzentów Autor dokonuje korekty tekstu w języku angielskim, a następnie przekazuje do Redakcji:

  1. ostateczną wersję artykułu w języku angielskim wraz z tytułem, słowami kluczowymi i abstraktem w języku polskim i angielskim (umieszczoną na płycie CD lub przesłaną na adres e-mailowy oej@uwm.edu.pl),
  2. odpowiedzi na recenzje,
  3. oświadczenie Autora (druk oświadczenia znajduje się w zakładce po prawej stronie),
  4. informację o imieniu i nazwisku tłumacza i native speakera.

Ostateczna wersja artykułu przekazana przez autora podlega ocenie redaktora statystycznego.
