My adventure with caddisflies started in early childhood. “Kłódki”( a Polish name for caddisflies, the first I learnt) were used as stick baits in order to catch fish with my primitive hazel stick in the River Liwina. After 30 years I determined the species I used (on the basis of a shape of cases and habitat) – it was Potamophylax rotundipennis. I wonder if this species is still in the river?

I don’t fish any more. Since 1983 I have chased after aquatic insects from Trichoptera order. I started it as a student but now – to my great joy – I have my own still increasing group of young trichopterologists. I am very proud of their achievements. In the future I would like to finish a key to larval and imaginal Polish Trichoptera and to proceed the method of bioindication (natural index) on the basis of caddisflies. I wish I were able to continue inventory-making and start caddisfly monitoring in central and eastern  Europe. I also collect local (“folk”) names of trichos.

I invite everybody to cooperation!
