Trichopteron is the bulletin of the Trichopterological Section of the Polish Entomological Society, which came into being in September 2001. It has been launched since December 2001 by the Polish Entomological Society and Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection in University of Warmia and Mazury.

The opening up the Trichopterological Section and its bulletin is connected with the need for integration of Polish trichopterologists. Coleopterologists, odonatologists and dipterologists have their own work-groups, they undertake their own enterprises and share their experiences.

We want us, trichopterologists, to have a similar group.

Among a few trichopterologists some new faces have appeared recently – young researchers and amateurs but as for them, they are only a few due to the lack of keys and atlases for determination of caddisfly species. But this group of people involved in Trichoptera subject is the invaluable source of information and the help in professional researches.

The main purpose of creating “Trichopteron” is to make contacts and experience exchanges with specialists and amateurs easy. We hope that our bulletin will be also a kind of inspiration for common researches and enterprises. We want to create a newsletter in which we will be able to share our experiences, notices, doubts and to find out where and what kind of researches are led at the moment. We also want to help the beginning trichopterologists learn something about caddisflies.

The title of our bulletin refers to “Dipteron” – the bulletin of a well-functioning dipterological section of the Polish Entomological Society.
