The Department of Genetics includes the following laboratories:
- Classical genetics:
- planning and organization field experiments
- crossing experiments
- crossing mutant's lines and developing mapping populations
- physical and chemical mutagenesis
- Molecular genetics:
- proteins electrophoresis
- DNA and RNA isolation
- transposons analysis - SSAP, IRAP
- PCR techniques and analysis of DNA markers - RFLP, RAPD, ISJ, SSR, AFLP, STS
- gene cloning
- DNA isolation using such metods as „positional cloning” i „candidate gene approach”
- construction of cDNA libraries
- Quantitative traits genetics:
- inheritance quantitative traits
- genetics parametrs ([d], [h], [l], [i])
- quantitative traits mapping
- Cytogenetics:
- classical - analysis of mitotic and meiotic chromosomes
- molecular - FISH, GISH
- In vitro cultures:
- liverworts spores' and gametophytes' cultures
- callus cultures from plant tissues (Arabidopsis thaliana)
- immature embryos' cultures (cereals, legumes)
- anthers and microspores cultures in cereals
- Statisctic:
- ANOVA/MANOVA
- principal component analysis (PCA)
- canonical variate analysis (CVA)
- analysis of discriminant value
We also enjoy some of the Faculty infrastructures:
- A fully automated greenhouse
- Experimental fields located 5 km from the Department
