Dear Colleagues!

It is my pleasure to publish Announcement no. 2 that provides organisational details concerning the International Conference entitled “Animal Genetics and Genomics”, which will be held on 2-4 July 2018 at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, Poland. Our conference continues the long tradition of meetings organized by of departments of animal genetics, located in agricultural universities. During the last meeting of the departments in Lublin (2017), we decided to transform these meetings into a conference with a broader formula, which will be addressed to the entire scientific community dealing with animal genetics and genomics, i.e. researchers from institutes run by ministries, the Polish Academy of Sciences and other universities. Moreover, the Organisational Committee has decided to invite guests from abroad, mainly from the neighbouring countries. I believe that the agenda of the conference will be a source of scientific inspiration and an opportunity for personal contacts, which will provide a new impulse for the development of your own scientific ideas shared with your partners. The conference programme abounds in opportunities for everyone to present their work and accomplishments. Our conferences will be cyclic events, held every four years, in the mid-term between successive Congresses of Polish Genetics. Next Congress will be held in Kraków in 2020.

The conference fee has been calculated such as to encourage the participation of as a large group of scientists as possible. The amounts charged for different categories of participation are the maximum amounts covering the cost of conference materials, meals and participation in three supporting events (Welcome Party, Gala Dinner, Excursion). These amounts can be reduced considerably if a participant selects appropriate options in the online registration at www.uwm.edu.pl/genomika2018

We request that the heads of research units should encourage their scientists, mainly doctoral students and doctors, to attend the conference, including the supporting events. A large number of young research workers participating in the conference will make us confident that animal genetics and genomics will go through another difficult period of transformations in Polish and global science. The time and venue of the conference provide a unique opportunity to extend the duration of your stay in Olsztyn or in the region of Warmia and Mazury as part of your summer holiday. We look forward to having you as guests in the beautiful capital city of Warmia!
