The Faculty of Economic Sciences had submitted its application to the Central Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles in mid-September last year.
‘This approval will allow us to conduct doctoral studies,’ says Janusz Heller, Ph.D., Professor of the University of Warmia and Mazury, Dean of the Faculty of Economic Sciences. ‘The authorisation to grant the degree of habilitated doctor in the field of economics gives us a better position in the hierarchy of faculties of economic sciences in Poland. We will have a higher place in the ranking of parameter assignment results, and we will receive bigger funds for statutory research,’ adds the dean.
The procedure for granting the new authorisation was relatively long. The decision was based on the assessment of criteria such as scientific achievements of the faculty, international contacts, effectiveness of the granting of doctoral degrees and the formal number of academic employees.
‘Now we want to apply for an authorisation to grant doctoral degrees in the second field: management sciences,’ informs the dean.
