Prof. Małgorzata Chomicz with the “Primo Assoluto” award

Małgorzata Chomicz, an artist and lecturer at the Faculty of Art at the University of Warmia and Mazury, received the Primo Assoluto award during the international art biennale in Perugia.

The 1st International Biennale of Contemporary Art took place from the first to the sixteenth October in the Rocca Paolina Exhibition Centre, in Perugia, Italy: the Biennale Citta di Perugia. 36 world-famous artists participated in the competition. They presented their works in different categories. 

The jury with Claudio Brancaleoni as a chairman decided unanimously to award a prize beyond all the categories specified in the rules. The biennale “Primo Assoluto” award went to Małgorzata Chomicz (in the middle of the photo). The jury justified their verdict as follows: “Sensitivity, imagination and technique combine in her art fortunately to the highest extent. Małgorzata Chomicz, thanks to her unique ability to master graphic art, can convey the vibrant atmosphere of our dreams and offer us the pure experience of beauty by colours which want to speak to our souls.”      


Małgorzata Chomicz has been teaching the techniques of printmaking to students for 20 years. Since 2007 she has been an associate professor at the UWM. She specialises in printmaking and art books. The author of 50 individual exhibitions (in Krakow, Vilnius, Rome, Nuremberg, Assisi, Perugia, Banská Bystrica, Trento, Zagreb, Trogir, among others). She took part in over 140 collective exhibitions and graphic competitions in Poland and abroad. In 2000 and 2002 she had a scholarship at the John Paul II Foundation of the Polish Institute of Christian Culture in Rome, and in 2001 - Fonds d'Aide Aux Lettres Polonaises Independantes in Paris. An honorary member of the "Stamperia del Tevere" Association of Graphic Artists in Rome. Since 2013 she has been a member of the "InSigna" Association, Rome. She is the author and coordinator of international artistic projects. Works in collections: Il Museo dell’Incisione – Museum of Graphics – Acqui Terme, Italy, Embassy of The Republic of Poland in Zagreb, Museo Guido Calori San Gemini, Italy, Gallery of Contemporary Sacred Art “Washerwoman’s House” in Kielce, Museum of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, Library of Alexandria in Egypt, among others, and in private collections (China, USA, Germany, Italy, Poland, Canada, Slovenia and Switzerland). The author and coordinator of international artistic projects.
