Honorary doctorate for Prof. Oskar Blarr

The Senate of UWM is pleased to announce that an honorary doctorate will be conferred to Prof. Oskar Gottlieb Blarr, the German musician, composer and organist.

 The ceremony of conferring the honorary doctorate of the University of Warmia and Mazury to Prof. O. Blarr will take place on Friday, 14 October at 5.00 p.m. at the Warmia and Mazury Philharmonic. The motion for conferring the honorary title to Prof. Oskar Blarr was put forward by the authorities of the Faculty of Social Sciences of UWM.

Prof. Oskar Gottlieb Blarr comes from Sędławki (former Eastern Prussia). He propagates the music composed by Feliks Nowowiejski and is also a follower of Krzysztof Penderecki. He has give many concerts in churches of our region and has initiated the renovation of many old organs in Warmia and Mazury.
