Merits: for outstanding scientific achievements in endocrinology of animal reproduction and for promoting the UWM Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at an international forum on 8 September 2001.

Merits: for developing and implementing modern genetic methods for poultry improvement, for outstanding scientific achievements in maintaining the biodiversity of familial chicken populations and for the expansion of the UMW Faculty of Animal Bioengineering.

Merits: Federal Minister of Internal Affairs in Germany, friend of Poland, in recognition of his participation in strengthening ties between Germans and Poles.

Merits: For his participation in the development of Polish education particularly  in staff development in the field of agricultural engineering and also for cooperation with the UWM Faculty of Technical Sciences.


Cardinal Stanisław DZIWISZ, Ph.D.

Date of conferment: 3 July 2008

Merits: For acting as statesman for Poland and its issues at the Vatican for 26 years, as well as exemplary input in the introduction and reception of the teachings of Pope John Paul II in Poland, as well as for founding the UWM Faculty of Theology in 1999 and reviving the centuries-long tradition of cooperation between the academic communities of Cracow and Warmia.

Merits: for his input in the development of Polish education particularly in major institutions of learning and higher education as well as for cooperation with UWM and supporting its work.

Merits:  For his work as statesman in the European Parliament, in recognition of his work on the peaceful co-existence of European countries and the Polish-German dialogue and for supporting cooperation between Warmia-Mazury and regions of Europe.

Merits: For his faith in universal values expressed in service to his fellow man as well as for his patriotism and concern for the national conscience. For his testimony to the martyrdom and heroism during Word War II, for promoting  international and intercultural dialogue.
