NATO e-learning meeting in Kyiv

From 23th to 26th September the NATO Training Group Task Group for Individual Training and Education Developments (NTGTG IT&ED) held its twice-annual meeting at the National Defence University of Ukraine named after Ivan Cherniakhovskyi.
 
The Chair of the Group is the Head of the Education and Training Technologies Section of NATO Allied Command Transformation, Mr. Paul Thurkettle, and the National Co-Chair is the Director of U.S. ADL Initiative, Dr. Sae Schatz. The aim of the NTGTG IT& ED is to enhance professionalism, interoperability and standardization among Alliance and partner forces through improved coordination of Education, Training, Exercise, & Evaluation (ETEE). The purposes of the Group are as follows: (1) support the development and implementation of ETEE policies, directives, and standards; (2) recommend solutions to emerging education and training requirements in support of NATO operations, (3) facilitate sharing of experiences and best practices among nations and the NATO Command Structure (NCS).
 
There were representatives from 21 countries:
Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France,
Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, Netherlands,
Northern Macedonia, Norway, Poland,
Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, USA who took part in the meeting. Also Assoc. Prof. Piotr Gawliczek, PhD (NATO DEEP ADL Portal Coordinator and faculty member of the Elk Branch Campus of the University of Warmia and Mazury) attended the meeting as the invited guest.
 
During the meeting, the Deputy Commandant of the University in Academic Affairs, Major-General Serhii Salkutsan, welcomed the participants and introduced them to the features of the military education system of Ukraine. The Chair of the Group, Mr. Paul Thurkelle, summarized the previous activities and outlined directions for further work. Delegates worked on the mandated tasks and planned their performance for the next meeting. The next meeting of the NTGTG IT& ED is scheduled for March 2020 in Sarajevo.
