Award of honorary title to the Elk Branch Campus researcher

On 12 June, the researcher of the Elk Branch Campus of the UWM, Assoc. Prof. Piotr Gawliczek, PhD, was awarded the title; doctor honoris causa of the National Defense University of Ukraine in Kiev. Prof. Piotr Gawliczek had been awardad for his personal engagement in the implementation of the complex e-learning solutions within UKR Armed Forces, which are coordinated by ADL Centre of the above-mentioned university. The ceremony of handing out a diploma will take place in due time, depending on COVID-19 related situation. 
Assoc Prof. Piotr Gawliczek, PhD is a graduate of the Polish Naval Academy in Gdynia, Command and Staff College of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg, European Security and Defence College (ESDC) in Brussels, NATO Defense College in Rome, and also PLA National Defense University of the Republic of China in Beijing. His research and educational activities are focused on: information and communications technologies in educating (xAPI, AI, VR, AR MR), strategic communications, social media, and multicultural awareness. He is a member of international organizations and groups focusing on e-learning’s theory and practice. Creator and manager of natodeep.hq.nato.int Portal, the tool of implementation of the complex solutions for a distance learning in fifteen NATO partner countries (within the Defence Enhancement Education Program). He led more than fifty expert teams of/for Alliance, associated with promotion and implementation of the e-learning system solutions. Initiator and coordinator of a e-learning platform of the UWM in Olsztyn, Elk Campus Branch - LMS ILIAS (uwmelk.edu.pl). His motto is: Teachers will not be, and should not be, replaced by e-learning platforms. But those who don't use e-learning platforms, will be driven out by those who are creatively using them.
