ADL Workshop within NATO DEEP Armenia

Polish Naval Academy named after the Heroes of Westerplatte in Gdynia hosted, December 14-16, 2019, the ADL Workshop within NATO DEEP Armenia programme. The event was supported by the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. The agenda was preliminary agreed between NATO and ARM side. Two representatives, one from Military University named after Vazgen Sargsyan (VSMU), and one from Marshal Armen Khanperantz Military Aviation University (MKMAU) in Yerevan participated.

NATO DEEP ADL Portal team acted as the SMEs. The aforementioned Portal was used as the key vehicle for the purposes of the workshop. During the undertaking, the experts of the NATO DEEP ADL Portal shared best practices regarding current trends within a new learning ecosystem, in various forms: case studies of university classes, the use of e-learning in different institutions and various interesting ADL projects.

The familiarization session on Adobe Connect (AC) – tool to use for synchronous meetings was organised. The live-demo activities involving AC were conducted during all days of the workshop. The participants acted as the teachers and group participants, to better understand the functionalities of the application. The software was appropriately introduced in a workshop format.

The presentation on the history of the PNA as well as information on the type of higher education provided was delivered, focusing also on describing the process of e-learning implementation into regular teaching and training process at the PNA. The platform “eduPortal” was presented and key functionalities discussed. The PNA’s involvement into NATO DEEP initiatives (with the special emphasis on relations within NATO DEEP Ukraine) and cooperation with the PfP C ADL Working Group were described. A successful e-learning project as an example of good practice was also presented. The HELP (Healthcare English Language Programme) project, developed under Erasmus+ aegis, offers a variety of educational materials for healthcare professionals in the form of a traditional hardcopy, an online platform and an application for Android system.

During the workshop, the courtesy meeting with the Deputy Rector-Commandant of the PNA for Education and Students’ Affairs: Capt (N) ret. Mariusz MIĘSIKOWSKI, Ph.D. took place. He was accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty of Command and Naval Operations – Capt. (N) Assoc. Prof. Bartłomiej PĄCZEK. Visiting session of the training facilities of the PNA was also organised, including the cybersecurity lab of the Faculty of Command and Naval Operations and ship simulation centre of the Faculty of Navigation and Naval Weapons.
