Potential impacts of the Collaborative Research Project

For the policy community, we will:

  • build knowledge and understanding about young people’s concerns regarding current local, European and global issues, their pro-social dispositions and their motivation to act for change

  • inform social and educational policy making in the EU, and collaborate with national policy makers to develop effective curricula for  citizenship and global education

For the professional community we will provide

  • guidance for those working to educate young people about global issues and  engage them in democratic processes, e.g. teachers, youth workers, and NGOs

  • an understanding of young people’s age related and culturally situated perspectives, which will inform the development of innovative curriculum design and pedagogical approaches

For the academic community, we will

  • develop theoretical understanding about young people’s age-related and culturally situated perceptions about global and citizenship issues

  • contribute to theories of pro-social behaviour

  • increase knowledge of effective methodologies for doing research with young people

  • strengthen research capacity across Europe, using current research networks to disseminate findings
